What's New on the 2023 Ford Explorer?
There have been some updates to the software to ensure you have the latest installations for connective apps like navigation and safety features. You're also going to find new color options available to choose from, which include the likes of Red Jewel Metallic.
Ford Explorer Trim Levels
Eight different models make up the new Ford Explorer lineup, with each offering a wealth of features and amenities. They are as follows:
- Explorer Base: this offers the likes of rear parking sensors to help you back up as well as a power liftgate and terrain management onboard
- Explorer XLT: you can find choices like a 360-degree view camera as well as ActiveX™ seating material for a premium feel that's stain-resistant and easy to clean
- Explorer ST-Line: giving you the performance feel, while keeping the base engine this has a 12-speaker sound system as well as Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+ for advanced safety onboard
- Explorer Timberline: this adds rugged off-road features and design such as a unique front grille, while also having a limited-slip rear axle for being on the trail
- Explorer Limited: available as a hybrid option, this also has a 10.1-inch touch display available plus front heated and ventilated leather-trimmed seats onboard for a high-end drive
- Explorer ST: with a sporty appeal, this has a powerful 400-horsepower engine and unique badging and interior options
- Explorer King Ranch: this comes with luxuries like leather seating, and an imposing stance with 20-inch wheels as well as a full suite of technology and safety onboard
- Explorer Platinum: another hybrid option, this has leather seating, a twin-panel moonroof, and a 14-speaker sound system for the top of the line model in the Explorer family
Performance
You get the choice of either two gas-powered engines or trims that come as a hybrid. The standard choice is a 300-horsepower four-cylinder that is capable and reliable for your daily drives. If you seek more power, the likes of the King Ranch, Platinum, and Explorer ST trims are highlighted by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 400 horsepower. Both Explorer Limited and Platinum options are available as hybrid choices too, and this is a V6 engine that is paired with an electric motor to produce 318 horsepower and ample fuel economy.
You'll also find that the new Explorer is able to tow a maximum of 5,600 pounds with the right setup and model as well.
Interior & Technology
Inside, the Ford Explorer has plenty of space across three rows of seating. You can even get to the third row easily with the press of a button that will move second-row seats (bench or captain's chairs) out of the way for easy access. There also is plenty of cargo space onboard too. Behind the third row, there are 18.2 cubic feet, but you can fold that down to get up to 47.9 cubic feet while folding all the rear seats nets you 87.8 cubic feet of space which is more than enough room for luggage, shopping items, camping, and adventure gear and much more.
The latest technology is also available onboard the new Ford Explorer as you can find standard touch display options with an eight-inch choice or a larger, vertical one. You can connect with ease to Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® plus there are also Wi-Fi plans, and even available rear-seat entertainment choices too.
Safety
Like all new Ford vehicles, the safety features on the 2023 Ford Explorer are here to keep you confident on the road. This includes the likes of forward collision warning and lane departure warning as well as BLIS® with cross-traffic alert for blind spots standard, with optional features like adaptive cruise control onboard too. Having these alerts, especially while in city driving situations where you have to stop and start, change lanes and move around comes in handy.
