Which EV is Right for Me?

Full Electric

Running on only battery power, the electric vehicle uses no fuel, and is recharged by charging stations in public areas, at work, or at home. You're getting emission-free driving free of many services like oil changes, and can see long-term savings at the pump and on maintenance too.

Plug-in Hybrid

Taking a gas engine and electric motor together, it provides traditional driving that can go further, plus the ability to use an all-electric driving range which is rechargeable either by regenerative braking when powered with the gas engine, or by a recharge at a charging station. It makes your short trips around the area easy to do without using fuel.

Traditional Hybrid

The gas-electric combination work through regenerative braking to provide you with greater driving distances and better fuel economy on the streets of Chicago and surrounding areas.

Owning an EV

  • Level 1 chargers can plug into standard household outlets and provide 2 to 5 miles of charge per hour, making them a solid choice for plug-in hybrids, but EVs need more power
  • Level 2 chargers provide 10-20 miles of range per hour and should be installed by a professional electrician, as these work to charge up your vehicle at home or work for a long stretch of time
  • Level 3 fast chargers offer the most efficiency with 60-80 miles of range in 20 minutes for the quickest charging experience, and our found in many places in public

Charging from Home

A standard outlet can be used for a plug-in hybrid, but with an EV it's recommended that you have an electrician professionally install a charging station or outlet with enough power so you can plug in. If you're in an apartment or condo, you can try and convince the owner to add a charging station or find charging stations nearby from public areas

Battery Care

On average, an electric battery is going to last 100,000 to 200,000 miles with the right care. Newer models are likely to improve on this, making EVs and hybrids standout values for your next vehicle. With an EV its best to keep the vehicle charge between 20 and 80 percent most of the time, and try and avoid extremely hot outdoor temperatures, which will help lead to minimal service and auto care.
