With the 2016 Super Duty, Ford is closing out the third production cycle of its line-up of large and heavily-built pickup trucks. Available in 15 trim combinations, the Super Duty is powered by a massive 6.2-liter SOHC V8 engine with 385 horsepower and 405 foot-pounds of torque. You do have the choice, however, to go with the even larger and more powerful 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine, which produces 440 horsepower and 860 foot-pounds of torque. With the engine hitched to a six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift technology, and the choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, the 2016 Super Duty has a best-in-class 40,400-pound gross combination weight rating, as well as a maximum tow capacity of 31,200 pounds. Plus, a maximum passenger volume of 133.5 cubic feet provides enough room for up to five adult passengers. Going up in trim can introduce or give you the opportunity to add features like cruise control, 10-way power adjustability and heating/cooling capability on the front seat, dual-zone electronic automatic climate control, 4.2-inch LCD productivity screen, power and auxiliary ports placed at the rear of the console, rearview camera and reverse sensing system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote start system, steering-wheel leather wrapping and heating, universal garage-door opener, a CD player added to the four-speaker stereo system with AM/FM radio, navigation system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. For protection safety, the Super Duty has front impact, side impact, and side curtain airbags, as well as four-wheel disc brakes, ABS, post-crash alert system, and anti-theft engine immobilizer.
