How can I tell if my brakes need servicing?
The brake system is one of the most important safety mechanisms in your vehicle. It is necessary to have it inspected regularly - a minimum of every six months or roughly every 6,000 miles - to ensure proper performance.
One of the great things about brakes is that they will tell you when it's time to change out the pads. The most obvious sign is that your vehicle's rate of deceleration upon applying the brakes won't be as responsive. Another thing you'll notice is that when your brake pads are worn down, they'll begin to emit a squeaking or squealing sound as you press down on the pedal.
From the inside of your cabin, your Anti‐Lock Brake System (ABS) warning lights will illuminate to alert you when you need brake service. Finally, if your brakes vibrate or shake, you'll need to get your vehicle in for service as soon as possible.
